They took everything. With courage and a crossbow, can one girl survive standing against genocidal maniacs?

Greece, 1941. Zoe Lambros has the heart of a lion. Born into an idyllic existence on a family farm, the thirteen-year-old stays brave even as her town is shaken by an earthquake. But when bombs fall and her father is lost, the only thing on her mind is how she can join the Resistance.

Assigned to smuggle food to Jewish families, Zoe stares mortality in the face as she’s brutally assaulted by a German soldier. But when she’s saved by her freedom-fighter cousin at the last moment, she crosses the line into a life where every step could mean death.

Can the young rebel exact revenge and help free her country before she’s swallowed up by vicious tyranny?

Enemy at the Gate is the gripping prequel to the Intertwined Souls historical fiction series. If you like stirring characters, thrilling surprises, and heartrending journeys, then you’ll love Mary D. Brooks’s battle for peace.

Project Kindness: Kindness That Changed My World

I wrote a little piece called “The Kindness that Changed My World” on the “I Heart Lesfic” site. It had a monumental effect on my thinking in 2001 and beyond. In addition to my story about kindness, there is a giveaway of my first novel “In The Blood of the Greeks”.

Many thanks to TB Markinson for including me in her Project Kindness.

What is Project Kindness? See below:

During 2020 on I Heart Lesfic, we ran a segment called Project Laughter because we thought all of us could use a good chuckle. After much thought, we’ve decided the theme for 2021 will be Project Kindness, which is something we think a lot of us could use in 2021 after one of the hardest and longest of years. At least once a week, hopefully twice, we’ll post a guest blog from a lesfic author sharing a story involving kindness.  Read More
